Hi Paul, it is one thing to see the rear end of a mob of horses in London, but a real pang of homesickness when you walk through Hyde park and you see the red rear end of a Qantas A 380 on approach to LHR after being away from Aus for more than 6 weeks!

AA72/73 Business class is much better

Gone are the days of CF6-80s, RB-211s, PW JT9Ds with their distinct spool-up and whining sounds. They were music to the ears. Nowadays, almost all wide body engines sound the same.

I flew on the Philippines Airlines A350 business class roundtrip nonstop from JFK to Manila. If I can't be in an A380, the A350 is the second choice. Beautiful, comfortable plane. I HATE BOEING.

The Japanese are masters of space-saving engineering. That's a beautiful cabin. I just want to see the industry use carbon fiber and cut weight by 20%

I'll be flying on ANA's "The Room" Business Class from NYC to Bali and Singapore roundtrip. This looks a lot like that. I can do without super expensive food. Eating Asian food is healthier and I lose weight. Just a few days left till I go. Super excited! I flew JAL a long time ago. Beautiful Airline!

This aircraft took Lyndon Johnson on the first U.S. Presidential visit to Australia in October of 1966.

I went to Kitty Hawk myself last December, toured the museum there. Wrights from Ohio may have flown that day, because at that beach, anything flat would have flown in such wind in December. But when they returned home, Ohio, nobody thought what they were doing was flying. 5 years later, Wrights go to Paris, learns a thing or two about flying, and then goes back to Paris and starts flying. Santos Dumont was the real pioneer in flight. After he flew, everyone started to fly, even Wrights. Their 1903 replicas, none can fly. Replicas of Dumont's airplanes, all of them flies, and flies very well. What did Wrights do? Motivated with greed, they just sued everyone who were building anything that flew. Wrights patented the flight itself, without inventing it.

I get wing flex, like why it's important. But how do you design wing flex into a design. Like do you make the bolt holes a little wider than the bolt so it can wobble, or is the metal itself flexible?

There's a lot of flexibility in that wing

Wingflex is one thing, but the lateral oscillation of the engines is another. I don't know how it would not result in wear or metal fatigue.

Hopefully Boeing did the maintenance correctly on this one
